Successful Stain Removal from Carpets

This depends a lot on the age of a stain. Most fresh stains can be removed from the carpet's fibre by an application of appropriate chemical/stain remover. Usually a Carpet Cleaner is called to attempt the stain removal procedure long after there was a spill. In this time the stain has dried out and set on or in the fibre.

What Vacuum Should I Use For Carpets?

Barrel Vacuums with a suction tool are really only designed for vacuuming hard floors. Your best option for maintaining your carpet is a quality upright vacuum with a beating brush. These act like tractors for your carpet capturing much more soil and grit which damages carpet. If you cannot afford one of these then a Dyson Barrel Vacuum with a turbo brush will suffice.

Commercial Carpet

In most shops, offices and other commercial facilities carpets are not maintained as regularly as they should be. So what happens is that huge amounts of soil build up in the carpet. Many then assume the fastest method is to use Hot Water Extraction. But instead if the shop or office owner is religious about Low Moisture Encapsulation Cleaning at proper intervals, dictated by traffic load they may never need to extract.

Colour Loss In Carpets

This can be caused by either chemical or natural means. CHEMICAL causes for colour loss are usually caused by the application of chemicals by homeowners or by pet stains. The main causes of colour loss are: chlorine bleaches, pet stains, and cleaners that have a high PH. NATURAL causes for colour loss can be classified as sun fading, ultraviolet or fume fading. In these cases, the fading usually occurs over a long period of time. Sun fading destroys the dyes chromofores and causes it to lose colour. It can be most noticeable near windows or glass doors.

Wine Stains

Red wine is one of the worst to spill. Yet if you get to it Quickly it is possible to remove it from your carpet. To help remove the spill put a dash of Clear Dishwashing Detergent in 500 mls of Water and carefully sponge the Detergent through the wine stain on the carpet. DO NOT RUB or SCRUB the stain as this can spread the stain and cause Carpet Pile Distortion. Follow the Detergent Solution with some clean water in a 500 ml spray bottle. Mist the water carefully onto the stain and dab carefully with a WHITE TOWEL or WHITE MATERIAL NAPPY, drying and absorbing the water into the Towel or Nappy.

STAINS ON CARPET

Naturally THE TYPE OF STAIN plays a very important part in a stain removal procedure. For a successful stain removal procedure to take place it is quite important to identify the nature of the stain. There are many stains of unknown origin so sight, touch and smell can play a huge part in identifying a stain. However many leave a stain on a carpet for weeks, months and in some cases years before they call a carpet cleaner. It is always best to call a Carpet Cleaner as soon as possible after a spillage so the spot or stain does not have as much time to absorb into the carpet fibre. However many try to attempt to clean the spot or stain away with supermarket spot cleaners, which leave huge residues behind in the carpet which attracts soil and can leave a larger spot or stain to try and clean away! Some supermarket spot and stain removers contain bleach which can leave whitish areas on the carpet, removing dye from the carpet which can only be corrected by recolouring the bleached area.

Adelaide Crows

The Adelaide Crows played a fantastic game of football against Geelong on Geelong's home ground today. They just kept coming at Geelong and had the ball inside their attacking zone in the last minute of the final quarter and just lost by two points. Who said the Crows can't match it with the big boys, they were not disgraced! Go the Crows!
